Welcome to Huia Range

WE EXPECT OUR CHILDREN TO STRIVE

Principal's Welcome

He mihi mahana kia koutou – A warm greeting to you all

It is my absolute pleasure to welcome you to Huia Range School.

I am privileged to be the principal of Huia Range School and I am very proud of our school and of the children who make it a great place to be.

Huia Range School was created in 2005 from a merger between Hillcrest and Dannevirke North School.  The average roll numbers in our year 0 – 8 school over the last 3 years has been 320 children.

Our learning vision is STRIVE:

S Self Awareness (Aroha)

T Thinking (Te Hurihuringa)

R Respect (Whakakoa)

I Integrity (Te Ngakaupono)

V Values (Tautokonga)

E Excellence (Mahina)

We expect our students to STRIVE

Student well-being and learning are central to all our decisions. We believe that when students are happy, and feel a sense of belonging, they thrive. A culture of high expectations for learning and behaviour exists. This, together with a team of skilled staff, support every student to STRIVE to achieve excellence.

We aim to create a safe, nurturing yet challenging environment, that is built on positive relationships.  We also aim to develop the whole student – emotionally, socially and academically. We care for, and appreciate, each of our students as the unique individuals that they are, each with distinctive talents, interests and needs, and each with differing learning styles.

Huia Range is a special place for learning, come and see for yourself.

Call in or phone the office for an appointment, we’d love to meet you.

Nau mai, haere mai.

Robyn Forsyth

Principal
